Lucky's Story...
Lucky is a young dog born in September of 2011 who came to us from a shelter in southern Iowa. Lucky had been with them for awhile and no one was interested in adopting him because he was three legged. (Don't tell him that..he doesn't know he is "special"!) Since his arrival, he has gotten along with several of the other shelter dogs and loves to run around the yard without a care in the world. Then he wants to stand right next to you and get plenty of love! He doesn’t seem to know what toys are just yet, but we have been working with him and he seems eager to share the joy of toys much like the other dogs. If young, spirited and loving is the kind of dog you enjoy then Lucky is your pup!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Lucky, a Des Moines Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Des Moines, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Des Moines.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Des Moines already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Des Moines breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Des Moines paves the way for another one to be saved.
