Gemma is a sweet girl that definitely suits her name, meaning "precious gem or jewel". She is a female brindle Boxer/Plott Hound mix that is about 4 years old and weighs 45lbs. She has a very unique look and is one special girl!
Gemma had lived with a family that came onto hard times and could no longer care for her anymore, so sadly they dropped off at a rural high kill shelter. She was a shelter staff favorite, and when we heard her story we knew had to help save her, to give her a second chance for a loving forever home. She is currently in temporary boarding, waiting for a suitable new family to come along and take her home.
Gemma is a mellow, well-behaved dog that appreciates every bit of human attention she can get. She is a good listener and walks well on a leash. She has likely not had any past training, but she is a good learner and would appreciate new owners that will work with her on basic training. She would be great in a family with kids and also seems to do fine with dogs her own size, but likely not so good with cats.
Gemma is not a demanding dog and would love to be your loyal companion and just hang out with you.
If you can provide this "precious gem" the kind of loving forever home that she deserves, please first submit an application form, found at:
(****NOTE: You must copy/paste the form and add in your info and email back to The Dog Shack at Email: email@example.com )

Communities are in economic crisis and innocent animals are facing the consequences with their lives. We try to provide some resources to alleviate the increasing abandonment and neglect rates. Our efforts are mitigated because of the over population of our domestic animals and the lack of education on the crisis of not spaying and neutering your animals.
