My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Are you looking for a laid back, sweet, small little guy that just wants to be with you, follow you around, and curl up on your lap? Peanut, a 6lb toy fox terrier born 09/2008 and rescued from a puppy mill in Sept 2013, is EXTREMELY sweet and would do great in a retired couple home or with a single female (it takes him longer to trust men). He is very laid back, only has a few teeth left (notice his tongue hanging out in the front) and has fully recovered from an operation on a very sensitive part of his body. Although house, crate and puppy pad trained, he will have accidents if not monitored. He is not always thrilled about going outside to do his business, especially on wet, cold or snowy days (I wouldn't be either!), but if you pick him up and put him outside, he will go. Even after 2 years of foster care, he is still be shy/timid (he bows down when he is picked up), but he has NEVER growled, been aggressive or protective in any way. Once he trusts his human, he will walk on a leash, take treats from your hand, etc, but he must first build that bond, so a fence is required and Peanut would benefit from another dog (at minimum) in the home, that he would be able to follow. Although he has no issues with other dogs (or cats), he will not proactively play with other dogs. He has no problem being in the same bed or sharing our lap with them, but he will be a play companion for the other dog(s). Given his small size and shyness, no small children is preferred. If you are willing to be patient and let Peanut adjust, he will reward you with unconditional love, jump up and down with excitement when you come home, and spend every possible minute he can with you.
