Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Lucy is a one year old cutie who is a bundle of energy. She is 23 lbs and is now full grown. She is very agile and can jump into vehicles and up on the bed with no problem. She may look like a lap dog, but she is anything but that! She runs circles (literally) around her foster siblings, and she'd be great at doggy sports because she is agile and fast. We believe she is a West Highland White Terrier (Westie)/Maltese mix but Jack Russell Terrier has been mentioned too.
Lucy had a rough start, she was living in the south in someone's garage 24/7. Now that she has been sprung from that life, she is learning about living in a home and that she can trust humans and other dogs. She can be defensive over her body space - understandable because she didn't have a lot of handling when she was younger. Lucy knows some commands and learns quickly; she is a very smart energetic girl. She is living in foster with several dogs of different sizes and she would certainly like to be the boss of them, and would do well as an "only" as long as she gets the physical and mental stimulation she needs! She goes in her crate to "chill" or when the humans aren't home. Lucy is interested in cats, maybe a little too much, and she was very overstimulated when she met rabbits and other small animals in a pet store. Typical terrier! She is not a dog that can be placed with other small animals, and she can not be placed with small children.
Sometimes when she wants your attention Lucy will take your hand in her mouth, and she doesn't always know her own strength. She is working with a trainer and her foster family to find better ways to get attention appropriately.
Lucy LOVES the snow, and will stay outside and play for a long time if you let her. So funny to see a southern dog be so excited about our New England weather!
To apply to adopt this dog, please visit our web site to access our application and learn more about adoption through Lucky Pup Rescue, www.luckypuprescue.org.
Please note, we do not have a physical location, but we are supported by a network of wonderful foster homes that are spread throughout New England. A dog will need to be visited by a prospective adopter in the foster home where they are feeling safe and comfortable.
