My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Princess found herself needing a new home when her owner passed away. She is a tiny little girl at just 5.5 lbs. Although it is very apparent that she is wanting affection, she is still unsure about all that has happened to her. She is slowly learning to trust and will make someone a wonderful little buddy given time. Princess is approximately 4 - 5 years old.

Here is what her foster family had to say:

Princess is slowly warming up to our family and we have found that a little piece of chicken goes a long way in getting her to engage with us. She is slowly learning to trust and is a very affectionate little girl. She knows her name and as long as you get her outside she is totally house trained. She is using her crate for security at the moment and has no problem going in there throughout the day and at night to sleep. She is very quiet in the home, observing all that goes on but not fully interacting with anyone yet. She is still afraid of hands although she will follow us around and really tries to get in our laps.

Princess is a sweet little girl who would make a great companion for anyone who is willing to give her some time to warm up. She desperately wants to snuggle but is so nervous that it takes her a bit. But once she does she likes to get under the covers and snuggle right up against your neck. She has been on a few walks and is really a little dog and loves to follow her nose and check out all the smells but is still nervous and jumps at my legs to pick her up (which I absolutely will not do). I make sure to walk her at quiet times and in quiet areas so she won’t be overwhelmed and will learn that walks are wonderful. She would benefit from having another low energy dog in the home to follow as she takes cues from my two. She ignores the cats completely. She would do fine with kids old enough to understand her nervousness and give her time to feel comfortable in her new home. When I’m on the computer she dances at my feet and trys to jump into my lap but she can’t make it up but when I reach to pick her up she runs away. She desperately wants the attention and loves but will need time. Whoever adopts her should fully understand that it will take some time to gain her trust. She will sit on my lap and let me pet her but if I try to pick her up she will run away so when an approved adopter comes to meet her they should know that it is unlikely for her to come up to them.

If you have room in your heart and your home for this little Princess, please submit an application for consideration.
