Twinkie's Story...
Sweet and squishy, that's our Twinkie! This girl came to family dogs shy and insecure in October 2007, and although we had hoped to find Twinkie a home and family of her very own, she has shown herself to be a little more than the average adopter can handle. Twinkie has gained confidence and blossomed into a loyal, loving, affectionate companion- a little too loyal. She feels the need to protect her loved ones from strangers, even though this is a flattering trait it is not an easy thing to fix. We believe Twinkie deserves to live a great life but want to do what is best for her and her breed. Therefor we have decided to let Twinkie live here with us, where she is happy, healthy and safe. If you would like to sponsor Twinkie to help us continue to provide her with a wonderful environment please make a donation the the shelter on her behalf.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Twinkie, a Portland Pit Bull Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Pit Bull Terrier for sale in Portland, or seeking a Pit Bull Terrier dog from a breeder in Portland.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Portland already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Portland breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Pit Bull Terrier breeders who help with Pit Bull Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Portland paves the way for another one to be saved.
