THIS IS OLIVER....and he is one of the happiest dogs ever to be out of his former home, out of the Devore Shelter and safe in rescue. This adorable, 1.5 yr old, charcoal and white, 14.8 lb Lhasa Mix baby was in one of the worst conditions we have ever seen. It took two weeks, with long breaks in between, to get his matted to the bone coat off, he was such a mess.
Little by little be began to look like a dog, but as you can imagine, he was a bit shell shocked and it took him a while to know that he was in good, loving hands. Once his coat was completely off, his timid, shy personality completely changed!! He started to run around the backyard, play with the other dogs and eat up attention like it was candy! And yes, his tongue does go back into his mouth!! He's just a happy boy!! We're not really sure what he is mixed with, but he does not shed and he is definitely a "low rider." Oliver can still be a little shy around new situations, but warms up quickly. He loves everyone, even the cats! He really loves to go outside and sunbathe -- but be able to come back in the house!! He is kissy and mellow, but full of energy at the same time! He likely would not do well in a senior home, only because he can be quite active! He would do well with a family who has older kids (over 8 yrs old), who will give him lots of attention and love. He would love to have a canine companion, but if you are home a lot and won't leave him alone, so that he won't feel abandoned, he likely would be fine -- but he does love to play. He isn't really sure what toys are -- but give him time and he will learn. This is a wonderful dog who just needs a wonderful home. He learned the doggie door pretty quickly, but may need a refresher course at your home because every environment provides a new atmosphere. He is very smart and wants to please. We currently hold our weekly adoption events every Sunday (unless we are doing a special event) at the WESTFIELD CENTURY CITY MALL located at 10250 Santa Monica Blvd., Century City, Los Angeles 90067. Enter off Santa Monica Blvd and park in the ORANGE section in the parking structure. Take the escalator up and follow the signage. We will be located near the Brooks Brothers (look for the purple tent in the Plaza between the two buildings) from 12 - 4PM
Here you will have an opportunity to interact with the dogs and see which might be a perfect fit with your household....and do some fantastic shopping at the same time! Please do call us if you are coming to see a particular dog to make sure he/she will be at adoptions (we do not bring sick dogs to our adoption events). Please bring a copy of your application and pictures of your home and yard if we have not done a home check! Most importantly, if you have a dog, make sure you bring him or her to do a compatibility match with the dog you are interested in adopting!
