My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

THIS IS A COURTESY LISTING. ADR is not responsible for the health, temperament, behavior or placement of this dog. Listings are done at the request of the dog's owner and as an outreach and community service in hopes of finding these dogs a loving, stable forever home. Placement decisions are made solely at the discretion of the owner and not Austin Dog Rescue. Owners are required to ask for an adoption fee from adopters.

Baby is sweet, loving and very respectful of our multi animal household. She responds very nicely to voice commands, is now crate-trained, house-trained and a wonderful companion. She wants to play. Although she has been a mom, she has that part of her life behind her, and is looking forward to a home that has time to play. She is good with cats, chickens and dogs. She would be best with a younger playful dog. She is small, (about 45-50 lbs.) very sweet and will settle down and take a nap after a bit of a run.

She was found in Bastrop County, and after stopping by their animal shelter, I knew I could not leave her there. She is too submissive, and would have shut down. She will bark occasionally, but when told no she will stop. I think she would be good at protecting her family. She is spayed, and has had her rabies shot and is ready for a home that will give her the love and life she deserves.

She was found in Red Rock on a very hot August day. She would have either been killed by donkeys, or died of heat had we not taken her to our home. She was by the front gate, apparently dumped like so many animals are in the country, to face an unknown future of starvation and pain. I picked her up gently, as in her fear, she trusted I would help her. We put her in the back seat under the A/C. She was safe. All she knew was a vehicle took to a place far from home. She was very submissive, but is much better. She didn't understand what a threshold was when we walked in the house. Her weight was good and no fleas. No micro chip.

Slowly, she has learned how to walk on a leash, get in a car, go into a crate and sleep on the floor next to humans that she can trust. She is good with other dogs, cats and chickens, but not good with rabbits. She responds to voice commands, and is getting better with keeping her feet down. She wants badly to sit in your lap. She weighs around 40lbs, if that. She has a robust bark she can use, but so far, chooses not to. She wants to play and have fun. She met the neighbor child, and was very kind to him. She has been spayed and had her rabies shot. We are seeking a home that will give her what she deserves. We have no room at our inn for another dog. Please consider Baby as your new best friend!
