My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

One look at Violet's face is all it takes to melt your heart. It's impossible to pass by without greeting and then doting on her because the expression on Violet's face so clearly communicates her hope that you take time to give her some love. In fact, would you believe Violet has an admirer who regularly visits since he is unable to adopt her himself? And he's not even a volunteer! That is how gifted our Violet is at capturing hearts!

Violet is a calm, quiet kitty that is sweet and affectionate as can be. Sit down on the floor and Violet quickly makes herself at home in your lap, purring and head butting your hand in eager anticipation of being petted. She loves being brushed too, not only because it keeps her gorgeous tabby stripes looking good but because it feels good too! Although sometimes she gets to a point where she gets enough interaction and prefers to be admired, Violet has been known to park herself on laps for 20 minutes plus. Sometimes you have to peel her off your lap if you really need to get up!

She's pretty funny...when 1 of our volunteers was sitting on the floor petting and brushing another cat, who do you think rubbed up against the volunteer's back, stuck her face in the other kitty's face, and tried to climb onto the volunteer's lap? Violet of course!! She was like, "Hey! I too would like some attention!" So Violet was happy to sit on the volunteer's lap while that volunteer continued to pet and brush the other kitty. Of course, Violet was much happier once the volunteer began petting and combing her!

Violet eats up a hearty meal as enthusiastically as she does attention. Violet not only loves food but she has been caught red-pawed on many occasions stealing food from her kitty roommates' rooms! Her thievery has caused her to become a little chubby; we help her towards the goal of slimming down and regaining her girlish figure by having her chase balls and play with feather wands - her 2 favorite toys!

Violet's ideal home would be one in which her calm demeanor is matched with respectful fellow feline-residents and/or children who will give her quiet time when she needs it. Violet is such a special girl who has so much to offer a family; all she asks for in return is lots of love (and food)! If this sounds like the kitty for you, please come meet our Violet - she would love to share a lifetime of friendship and affection with you!
