Chelsea's Story...
Chelsea is an incredibly well behaved dog in the house. She has no bad habits and needs no training unless you want to teach her tricks. She is housebroken and does not bother the trash can or any food on counters, coffee tables etc. she likes kids and other dogs and avoids the cats. She sits nicely when you put her sweater on. She is very calm and rarely barks. You can take food and bones from her. She does get excited in the snow and loves to roll in it and also loves to go "bye byes" in the car. She is easy to bathe and loves to be brushed. She is so well behaved you don't even notice her in the house. Chelsea is currently in a foster home. If you would like to meet her, please call the shelter at 814-443-2121 or email her foster mom at

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Chelsea, a Somerset Cattle Dog/Basset Hound dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Cattle Dog/Basset Hound for sale in Somerset, or seeking a Cattle Dog/Basset Hound dog from a breeder in Somerset.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Somerset already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Somerset breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Cattle Dog/Basset Hound breeders who help with Cattle Dog/Basset Hound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Somerset paves the way for another one to be saved.
