Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Shy female, 6 years old, no apartments/townhomes, no small children, $275 adoption fee
Kaede (kah-day), which means autumn in Japanese, is a 6 year old pure bred, Black and Tan, female Shiba Inu that our rescue pulled from a puppy mill in February. Before coming to rescue, Kaede had never lived in a house, walked on grass, worn a collar or leash, gone for a walk, been petted by people or done anything our canine companions do on a regular basis. These dogs take patience and understanding to come out of their shells and some may never be what one would consider a normal dog.
Kaede is potty trained and crate trained. We are working on feeding her in the crate so she associates it with something positive as well as giving her awesome chews like Kongs stuffed with canned food.
Kaede is good with other dogs and cats, but is too shy for children. She is very scared of walking on a leash and can slip out of harnesses and chew through leashes so no apartments and only 6 foot privacy fencing in her forever home.
Kaede did have severe luxating patellas, but we had them both surgically repaired. However she will probably never be a running buddy and her owner should know that too much activity may make her sore.
Kaede still has a ways to go but we feel she can continue her journey in a forever home. Her fee is 275.00 which also includes her spay, microchip, deworming, vaccinations and 6 week professional training course.
