Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Pluto is a sweet and gentle boy, about 50 lbs of 'wanna be' best friend. He is a young adult; we estimate him to be about 2 years old.
Pluto recognizes/clings to people, but all strangers are scary. He is great with other dogs - gets along with everyone, even the most reactive. He might have lived his prior life in a kennel with few people around.
It seems that he has had intense training - on leash & to crate. He does have a fear of the vehicle until he sees the crate inside, then hops into the "safety" of the crate.
Pluto startles easily with sudden movements and loud noises - sensitive to sound. He is great in the yard - doesn't dig or challenge fencing and enjoys lounging around in the sun. Head shy with quick movement, but no problem with handling. Not a bit of aggressive or protective behavior.
Pluto wants to love everyone, you can see it in his eyes. But he takes some time to warm up to new people. He is a very happy dog on walks with his sniffing around like all good hound dogs should! Pluto is a gentleman with other dogs and even quite tolerant when other pooches are a bit rude. Who knows what past Pluto remembers, but a gentle hand is required in his care. Empathetic children may bring out that light in his eyes and he likes toys! He'll need calm, steady parents to heal his fear.
To learn more about Pluto and apply to adopt him, please email s_smith_polo@yahoo.com.
Adoption fees range from $150-$250 for dogs. THE DOGS SHOWN ON THE SITE ARE IN FOSTERCARE - WE DO NOT HAVE A SHELTER TO VISIT. EMAIL is the best way to reach us.
We are a volunteer run, very small organization - so please be patient when waiting for a response, but feel free to check back in if you haven't heard from us in a day or so - thank you so much for considering a rescued pooch!
