My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET KENDRA:

Helen Keller said that 'The Best and Most Important Things In the World Cannot Be Seen or Touched; they Must be Felt By The Heart.' This is definitely true in the case of this gorgeous little girl. KENDRA is a 5.5 year old tweenie and a true sweetheart! Like Helen Keller, she is blind, but is otherwise healthy and has overcome much in spite of her lack of sight. KENDRA is a very loving and smart girl who can quickly learn the path of your home and other routes you take regularly. She is so appreciative of all kindnesses and she will win your heart the moment you see her if she hasn't already! KENDRA loves going for walks and rides in the car. She is also a very quiet doxie and only barks occasionally when her foster brothers bark. Remember, Walking with a Friend in the Dark is Better than Walking Alone in the Light. Do you have the desire and ability to be KENDRA's loving forever family?

FOSTER FAMILY UPDATE:
She is the sweetest dog ever! Even though she is blind, she has learned the layout of the living area and uses the doggie door. She does best in a small area and pretty quick to learn. She knows several commands to help her around-like 'up' (for getting picked up), careful, 'no' and many others. She is great at traveling because she doesn't bark at other dogs and loves to lay next to you in the car. She knows that when the harness is put on that it's time to go for a walk; she moves slowly and you never have worry about her running away. KENDRA also loves playing with her squeaky toys! If she sleeps with you she doesn't move around, and she also sleeps in her kennel. She loves her belly rubbed and will reward you with kisses and her love.

OUR CRITERIA (aka the Fine Print):

Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 10 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer no smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc) Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember these are rescues, many were surrendered because of these issues.

WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN WITH YOUR LITTLE RESCUE:

All our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Pyrantyl, nails trimmed, and dental when needed. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $395, sorry no exceptions, as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.

Can you give KENDRA a happy, carefree life again? If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.odr-inc.org and email it to: jrangan@comcast.net - the adoption committee will be in touch with you within 48 hours so please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.
