My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MINDY. UPDATE: December 2. Mindy is playing well with other dogs in foster family. She is still a little nippy, but is scared, and does not mean to hurt. We are checking with vet regarding her possible need for some medication. She will need a special owner to bring her around from her terrible early days. Her foster parents see her potential and love this little one. She does have a high pitched bark, which can be off putting.

This sad sad little girl is a little 3.5 pounds of fright. She runs in circles and right now is terrorized by everything. Mindy is a double dapple piebald, the result of dangerous breeding. We will keep you updated on her condition as she is getting a full veterinary exam. So sweet and calms after being cuddled. She has known no love up till now. Together we can save her!

Update: deaf but not blind! Eating well here at rescue. Needs to gain several pounds and get used to being in a warm and loving environment.

Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same sex in a home and children need to be 10 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer no smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc) Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember these are rescues, many were surrendered because of these issues. All our dogs are fully vetted, including all shots, wormer & flea protection, nails trimmed, the works. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $395, no exceptions as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training. Can you give her a happy, carefree life that she deserves? If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.odr-inc.org and email it to: jrangan@comcast.net - the adoption committee will be in touch with you within 48 hours so please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.
