Yes, we are a cat rescue. But this dog needs a home and we are using every resource we have to make that happen for her. Our Director is fostering this dog who was a 'lifer' at a county shelter, and at risk of being put down. She was an owner surrender to the Allegan County Shelter in MI. She was there for nearly 9 months and became depressed and nervous. She is spayed/micro-chipped/current on vaccine and heartworm prevention.

Smarty is a very mild mannered and calm dog. She is around 4 years old, born in 2009. She is workable with cats, and good with other dogs who are not aggressive toward her. She knows the 'sit' command and comes when called. She is easy to handle even for someone with minimal dog experience. The move to a foster home has greatly improved her confidence and decreased her anxiety. Once in an adoptive home, she will bond with her owner and blossom with the love and stability she craves.
