Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Joanie is an absolutely beautiful Golden Retriever mix who came from Tennessee. She was picked up by animal control as a stray and appeared that she had just given birth to puppies, but no puppies were ever found. She was not claimed by an owner, and went up for adoption. After a month of waiting for a forever home, she was scheduled to be euthanized to make space in the crowded shelter. Our rescue stepped in and saved her, and she has been in an Annapolis area foster home for about a month.
Upon arriving at her foster home, Joanie was very thin and recovering from a spay that had healing complications. She was quiet at the start, but after a few days (and food bowls that are never empty!), her spirits turned and the real dog emerged. Joanie is a very happy, very friendly pup that is typical of Goldens. When you stop petting her, the paw comes up bopping you for more. She loves walks and car rides. If you even look at a leash she gets excited, and yes…she loves water! The most entertaining part of Joanie is her love of kids. When her foster parents come home they get a friendly and excited greeting. When the foster children come home from school it is an all out party—crying, dancing in circles, and she hugs them as if they were long lost friends!
Joanie is best suited for an active family who will take her everywhere and keep her on the go. She seems to have missed her puppy years, because puppy-like she has become. Joanie will need owners who will commit to training. She’s incredibly smart, and in a short month she has learned some basic commands and how to walk on a leash with manners. She will need a committed family to work with her and she will be the best trained dog out there.
Joanie is 100% cat friendly, has been vetted, vaccinated and her spay has fully healed. She is completely house broken, with no accidents at her foster home, and she is estimated at 3-4 years old. She’s also well-nourished now and is a full size Golden mix dog at about 60 lbs.
