My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

UPDATE SIMPSON (Dec 28). Simpson went visiting over Christmas holidays, and he was so great. There were around 20 people from 2 to 80, and 2 other dogs beside Simpson and he got along with everyone I think you could take Simpson anywhere and he would behave really well. He gets along with dogs, cats-he just ignores them, people of all ages, stores, he loves riding in the car and he just lays down until we get to where ever we are going. He really needs to be with a more active family-hiking, walking or jogging-he shouldn't be with a sedentary person because he is so active and he loves to run around the backyard.

MEET SIMPSON. Hey! How about me?? I'm a sweetheart of a black and tan tweenie dachshund. I am a male (well neutered of course), about 3 years old, and weigh about 15 pounds. And take a look at those pictures! My humans have had to move to an apartment that doesn't take pets. (What's up with that? I'm well trained and such a joy to have around.) So anyway, I need a new home and I am waiting to meet you. Love from Simpson

UPDATE: We had Simpson today at the rescue and he is the best behaved dog. Loved to walk new dog walker said he was a strong walker. Played with Kramer, Rocky and Annie. He gets along with cats also. From his surrender he was raised with cats and kids. So he is very adoptable, he really liked being on volunteers' lap also. Very social.

UPDATE from Foster (Nov 9). I've just met my temporary parents and their dogs. I am getting along fine with them. My new folks took me on a walk and were impressed with my skills. My mom says I'm too long for her lap, so I just lie right beside her, and that works fine for cuddling. Had a new experience today. I wasn't too sure at first, but after I got used to it, I found that I love being brushed. Life is a wonder. And I wonder when my permanent family will find me.

Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same sex in a home and children need to be 10 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer no smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc) Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember these are rescues, many were surrendered because of these issues.

All our dogs are fully vetted, including all shots, wormer & flea protection, nails trimmed, the works. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $395, no exceptions as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.

Can you give him a happy, carefree life again? If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.odr-inc.org and email it to: jrangan@comcast.net - the adoption committee will be in touch with you within 48 hours so please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.
