My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

"Zemka" is a beautiful 7¾-yo (born Christmas Day 2005) spayed female GSD who is very affectionate and well-behaved. Zemka is friendly with people, though she's slow to warm up to strangers. She's reportedly very good with children. Zemka has done very well with all the dogs at GSRSV's facility, and is reportedly good w/ small dogs. There's no history of Zemka with cats, so I will only consider homes w/out cats for her. Zemka is a big female, and weighs about 75 lbs.

Zemka is housetrained and very calm inside. She walks well on a leash and rides well in a car. She likes to play with balls somewhat, but is not obsessed by them. She is mostly focused on her person.

Zemka was surrendered by her owners to the Yolo County Shelter because "the wife" didn't want her inside anymore, and when left outside, she was quite vocal. Also, Zemka had a mammary mass which the owners could not afford to have removed. (That mass was removed when Zemka was spayed, and the biopsy report showed that it was benign.)

The Yolo County SPCA (the adoption arm of the shelter) failed Zemka for adoption due to the "nervousness and anxiety" she was exhibiting at the shelter. (Pathetic.) When no rescue group wanted to take a chance on Zemka--most likely due to the uncertainty of her mammary mass--GSRSV stepped forward and rescued her.

Zemka's adoption fee is $175
