We would like to explain that if you are looking for a perfect dog, they are rarely found in rescue. Our dogs often have unknown histories and we do our very best to evaluate each dog with kids, cats, and other dogs as well as determine how they behave in a home. It is important to understand that we have some specific criteria for each dog based on their backgrounds and input from their foster families. The purpose of these criteria is to better match each dog with an appropriate family. While a certain dog might appeal to you based on breed, size, gender or appearance, you may not match the listed criteria. Please understand that we are not trying to make adoption difficult—we are trying to make each adoption successful for the dog and the new family.

Ozzy and Harley are a bonded pair of chihuahuas whose owner died suddenly as a result of a heart attack. They are in foster care hoping for a loving new owner who will give them a great home together. These little guys are both six pounds and are 5 years old, and though they are not litter-mates they are bonded, meaning they cannot and will not be separated. These little fellows are very very sweet and loving to adults but they are afraid of children younger than teens. Ozzy and Harley get along with some large dogs in their foster home and they have also lived with cats. The little boys are house trained and they love playing outside in good weather. A physically fenced yard is HIGHLY desirable as they are very vulnerable to predators--both human and animal. Chihuahuas are special little treasures, and these two little boys would be ideal companions for a couple--that way both can have a little lap warmer. Ozzy is the long haired chi and Harley who is a real cuddlebug is the one with short hair. But--please don't ask us to separate them as we won't because they are so bonded. The little boys are with a 501c3 rescue. Their vet costs for their heartworm tests, immunizations, worming, HomeAgain microchip and a dental for each of them totals $770.00. The adoption fee for these chis is $475.00 which is much less than their vet costs.
To ensure that this dog thrives in his new home and that the adoption works out for the dog and your family, these are the requirements for adoption. These criteria are not negotiable. If you do not meet these criteria, please choose another dog that will work out better for your family.
• Homeowners: Not required, condo or townhome okay with small fenced area
• Status of adopter: 30+
• Previous dog owning experience: Required
• Age of children: Older teens, 13++
• Another dog in the home: Not required but ok with other dogs
• Cat(s) in the home: Safe with cats
• Fenced yard: Small fenced area required. May consider responsible adult who will take them out ALWAYS leashed in their harnesses
• Time alone on work days:They will need someone home every 4 hours for potty breaks during the day. They can go all night without going outside.
