Here's what the humans have to say about me:
His name is Rio, and like the Rio Grande he has a big heart. He is a sweet, well-behaved dog who wants to please his person. Rio is a dream to walk, and would be perfect for someone who wants to amble, rather than sprint. He will follow your lead. Rio enjoys lap time and lets you know that you are the most important person on the planet. He is able to love and trust, but seems to feel safest with women.
Rio was terrified when he first came to BACS, requiring a great deal of patience on the part of volunteers who interacted with him. In a very short time, Rio's personality emerged during play groups, and one of the volunteers voted him most improved dog. Rio will need someone who has the patience to work with fear-driven behaviors, and making him feel safe in the world. He can display some guarding behavior toward strangers, but nothing that the right socialization techniques won't correct.
Rio will make someone a wonderful companion. If a river could talk, it might ask for a quiet place to rest. Are you Rio's quiet place to rest?
