My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Heidi is your classic dutchie temperament and drive. In training, she has a great work ethic and willing attitude. Her toy drive is superb. Heidi's idea of Uptopia is playing fetch in the back yard...for hours. Heidi has basic obedience skills (sit, stay, down, come), but is a little rusty on her leash manners. She has a lovely disposition and is good around other dogs, although she is unwilling to share her toys. She is good about sending a clear warning message to the other dogs if they get too close for comfort. Her stay at the local shelter has shaken her sense of belonging, making her somewhat anxious at times. She wants nothing more than to have a person or family to call her own. In a structured, stable home setting, she will absolutely thrive. Heidi does need some redirecting on boundaries, depending on what the rules of her forever home are...she is a skilled counter surfer and loves trying to sneak onto the couch to take a snooze. Like most dutchies, she is protective of her home and family - barking when there is a stranger at the door or someone encroaches on the property boundaries. She has a huge bark. Her biggest challenge is riding in cars - she gets very anxious when travelling and is vocal in her concerns. She does calm down if someone is in physical contact with her while the car is in motion. With her toy drive, athleticism, deep nose and attitude, she would do well in a myriad of training venues - IPO, obedience, agility, dock diving, nosework, SAR. She is a quick learner and once she understands the expectation, is more than happy to comply. She'll never be a couch potato type dog (she'll need an active owner) but once she settles in to her forever home, she'll be a nice addition to a house hold. We had our second beginning agility class this weekend - she'll do well in that venue because she is so handler focused. She's mastered hoops, tables and jumps.
Heidi is a 5 year old female spayed, current on vaccines, heartworm negative, free of internal and external parasites and microchipped. She is located in Colorado but NADSR does adopt out Nationally.
