Here's what the humans have to say about me:
**Note: He was adopted recently and was ding fine but within a month or so had to be returned due to his new owner being reassigned to a traveling job.**
Jasper is a very handsome, young, purebred German Shepherd who is relatively new to our group. He is fully vetted and ready to be adopted He is fine with the other dogs in his foster home and just wants to play. He is still developing his social skills with other dogs but has made great progress.
He is not use to a crate but he is being crate trained and still needs some work on that. He goes in but howls for a short time. The time is getting shorter, now only a minute or two : ) we think he is saying, " Please, I love you, let me out to be with you, I am a GSD, how can I protect you in this crate!!" He just doesn't know yet that crates can be wonderful tools. We crate train our rescues for the convenience of their future families. Besides, dogs are den animals and a lot of Shepherds absolutely love their crate and go in on their own during the day to rest and sleep with the door wide open.
Jasper is extremely good looking so if you adopt him get ready for compliments from people when you go out and about with him. At a recent adoption event he had a great time, got lots of looks and got along well with all dogs.
Name: Jasper
Age: Young
Gender: Male
Mix/Purebred: Pure
House trained: Yes appears to be
Crate trained: Yes, but doesn't like his crate
Heartworm Negative/Positive: Negative
Spayed/Neutered: Yes
Microchipped: Yes
Good with other dogs: Yes
Good with cats: unknown but can test
Good with children: Yes but will need kids who are familiar with dogs
He needs some more training on walking with a loose leash but he is a quick learner. He needs to be a family dog, inside the home with lots of playtime and exercise outside. He could be an only dog or live with some furry friends as long as they came to the meet and greet. Jasper is very intelligent, agile and a quick learner. He could be a great agility competitor and would love visits to an agility course.
He has a beautiful smile but is not overly friendly to strangers. He has the typical aloof-at-first GSD temperament. They are not Labs that wag their tail and jump all over strangers...GSD's are protective and cautious of people outside their pack but once they know you are friendly they are a very social breed.
If you think you would enjoy and have time to train, exercise and love this sweet boy please apply. We are looking for a FOREVER home for him. He deserves it!
