Smokey's Story...
Check out Smokey. A beautiful German Shepherd who is 3-1/2 years old. He is between 60-70 lbs. He needs to be with someone who will take care of him and understands his needs. He would probably become a very loyal dog to someone who he feels safe and secure with. We have been working with Smokey to be with other dogs. He plays a little bit hard, but he appears to like other dogs. He does well in a group of dogs, but one-on-one we are not certain of as of yet. As those who know about German Shepherds, if they are in a family, it is important for each family member to interact with them (walking, playing, feeding, brushing, etc).
Smokey loves the beach and play in water. He loves baths as you can see by the picture. He loves his sides scratched and rubbed. He rolls over for belly rubs! He will lick your face. This is a very sweet dog. Knows commands. Loves to walk. Whenever Smokey sees kids, he seems to like them a lot especially when they pet him.
Please fill out an application and you may mail it in. References and Vet References will be checked. Our evaluator/trainer will speak with you also to answer questions and give some insight about Smokey A pre-home visit is required for all dog adoptions.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Smokey, a Dunkirk German Shepherd Dog dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a German Shepherd Dog for sale in Dunkirk, or seeking a German Shepherd Dog dog from a breeder in Dunkirk.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Dunkirk already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Dunkirk breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even German Shepherd Dog breeders who help with German Shepherd Dog rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Dunkirk paves the way for another one to be saved.
