Jane's Story...
Jane is a beautiful black purebred Lab. She is about 1 to 1 ½ years old and weighs 55 lbs. Her coat is soft and so shiny and she has a sparkle in her eyes. Jane is in a wonderful foster home now after being pulled from a high kill shelter. When she came to us she was heartworm positive, but has completed her treatment and is now heartworm free. Jane loves everyone and just radiates ‘happy’ and gets so excited when told she is a good girl. Jane’s favorite activity is going for long walks with her family and cuddling in front of the TV. She does pull some on the leash, but is doing much better with practice. Jane sits for a treat and she knows the word ‘no’ and responds to it. She enjoys chewing on nylabones and antlers. Jane is a medium/high energy girl and still has a lot of puppy energy. Her foster mom says, ‘Jane is a wonderful girl, and I can’t say enough good things about her.’ She is house-trained and crate-trained. She would be great for an active family, a young couple who does lots of outdoor things, or a family that has time to give her plenty of exercise. Jane is spayed, heartworm negative, up to date on vaccinations including rabies and micro-chipped. She is also on flea and tick preventative and heartworm preventative. If you would be interested in hearing more about this beautiful girl Jane and how she could be a part of your family, please indicate her in the notes section of the online application.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Jane, a Salem Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Salem, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Salem.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Salem already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Salem breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Salem paves the way for another one to be saved.
