My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This beautiful little girl does not let the fact that she only has 3 legs slow her down. She is full of love and fun. She had a rough start at life but she is ready to start a new chapter and find her Forever Home. She is good with kids and will bark at other dogs she does not know. She just wants to play and after being introduced quiets down and learns her manners.

Her Story -Dottie was found at an M-Dot Bus stop and had been spotted there by one of our volunteers son. She clearly had a leg that was not being used fully with a clear sign of atrophy. We took Dottie to be seen at Emergency Veterinary Hospital in Ann Arbor. She was found to have multiple fractures and a very shattered femur bone in her rear left leg. This was a very old injury that had already began to heal. The X-Ray also showed all the muscle lose in her leg, compared to the other leg, from lack of being able to use it and the nerve damage that was involved. There were other fractures in the same leg, as well as a broken tail. She also had two very large lumps on her head and a tick on one of her ears, that had been sucking blood for a while, by the looks of its size. Do to the injury being so old, it was beyond repair, along with the nerve damage and arthritis, we felt it best to amputate the leg so that Dottie would not suffer in the future. We cannot imagine the pain she has gone through while suffering through such an injury and never receiving medical care. Her owner had called to clam her late this morning and Dottie was surrendered to us immediately!
