Meet Cassie! Cassie was rescued from a rural southern kill shelter that euthanizes animals for space. She was pulled in her last hour of life just in the nick of time, and brought to Maryland for adoption. Cassie has been tested with dogs and cats and does great with both. She is currently being fostered with other dogs and cats. She is approximately 1-2 years old, 42 lbs, full grown, and will not get any bigger. She is in very good health.
Cassie looks like a flat coated retriever with long, luscious, wavy fur typical of a flat coat, but some who have met her believe she also may have some border collie in her. She has fluffy fur around her ears and has some chocolate on her face and under her ears. We do not know for sure what she might be mixed and as such, we make no guarantees on breed mixes!
Cassie is described as happy, outgoing, and energetic, but also loving and affectionate. She is fully housebroken, and working on leash manners and making great strides. She has been spayed, dewormed, is heartworm negative, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccines. She is also on flea/tick and heartworm preventative.
Cassie is looking for a forever home where she never has to worry about her basic needs being met and where she can be a member of the family. She would be happiest with a large fenced yard or daily exercise like running. Flat coated retrievers are loyal and kind, and Cassie is no different! She will require an owner willing to give her daily exercise as she has plenty of energy, but also knows how to snuggle after a long day!
