Here's Dakota! He came to ESRA from a shelter, so little is known about his past. This boy is what we call an "easy keeper." He listens well and knows how to Shake, Sit, Lie Down, and Sit Up. He has free rein of the house without any issues, and he is so excited when his foster dad gets home from work.
Dakota is not a furniture jumper, but he will gladly join you if he is invited. He loves attention and especially treats. Dakota walks well on leash and LOVES car rides. He just sits in the back with a big Springer smile!
Dakota plays very well with his canine foster brother. They love wrestling on the floor and chasing each other outside. He is also great with the resident nine-year-old boy. Sometimes all three of them wrestle on the floor! Dakota does like to chase the cat into hiding, so a cat-free home may be best for him.
Dakota would do best in a home with fenced yard because he will take off to explore if given the chance. However, Dakota is so obedient that he may learn to respect boundaries if he has a family who is willing to work with him on recall and off-leash behavior.
This all-around wonderful boy is just waiting for his happy ending! If Dakota sounds like the easy keeper for you, please contact his case managers right away.
Please note that an approved adoption application is the first step in a more thorough interview process that is designed to match each dog to exactly the right family, and that the final decision rests with the dog's case manager.
Please read the Adoption FAQ and get an Adoption Application approved before inquiring about Dakota.
