Mookie is an adorable and VERY spunky young boy. Poor Mookie was thrown out like a piece of trash by his original family and was literally left in a ditch on the side of a busy road. We happened to be at the shelter when the good samaritan that found him brought him in. His coat was so matted you couldn’t even see his face or legs. In spite of the horrible shape he was in, when I held him he turned to me and gave me a kiss! We knew this boy was something special and he came to Cedar Farm for a fresh start. When we cleaned up Mookie’s face we noticed that his smile was a bit lopsided. We wondered if he had been hit or in an accident but closer observation and a vet’s confirmation indicated that he was born with a cleft palate. So this sweet fellow was just not “perfect” and got thrown out like that – how horrible!! Surgery was performed and the vet has been thrilled with the results. Silly Mookie, though, kept licking his stitches out, so the cosmetic aspect is still not perfect. We think Mookie just likes his unique look! He is a charmer, for sure. Mookie loves to run and play with our other dogs. He is ok with cats but wants to play with them too. Mookie does great with children and will play nicely with them. Mookie is 2 years old and weighs 9 lbs. He is crate-trained, housebroken and walks well on leash. He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on all of his shots. He is heartworm negative and on monthly preventatives for heartworms, fleas and ticks.
