Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Red Flint. This Red Heeler/Australian Cattle Dog is a most unique dog. He looks like a gorgeous domesticated fox with a soul to love and embrace all his human friends. He did not know about living in a home with other dogs when he joined us as a foster. He came to us on the day he was neutered, estimated to be 2 years old and 35 pounds. We had to work with him on basic house training but he got the picture pretty quick and caught on to the dog door too. He had to adjust to living with 4 other dogs, but they have sorted it out and he is now part of the pack. Red Flint loves to play and retrieve the tennis ball for endless time it seems. Like most Cattle Dogs, give him a fun job or game and he is yours forever! Red will be your shadow once he bonds with you, as Heelers are known for. I take him outside the fence and drop the leash, he sniffs and runs off a little, but keeps an eye on me. If I go in a different direction, he is right by my side again. He has his funny moments when the rain drops fall off the leaves and he tries to chase them, or when he jumps straight up in the tall grass to see what’s beyond. We are working with him to lose his fear of riding in the crate in the car. I guess the car rides in his life were mostly scary so far. Now we go to fun places like the pet store where he gets a treat and meets all kinds of people and to the lake for a walk along the edge. He met a very laid back cat as well and it seemed that he did not mind her. But she didn’t try to run from him, so there is the disclaimer, not 100 % cat tested. We think that he would chase the goats if he could, he gets excited about them at the fence, but not so much when the chickens walk by. Most dogs will get excited at barnyard friends, deciding whether to herd them or become their friend. Red Flint is a special guy. He needs a special and active adoptive family. He is a super example of the Australian Cattle Dog breed. We love this boy and he has grown to be a treasure. ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED. CONTACT US AT 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.com
