My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Mia, about 3 years old, is a pit bull terrier mix, about 42 pounds. The large white star on Mia’s chest is indicative of what an extra special gal and she is. We think you’ll agree Mia is a wonderful dog and will be a loyal, loving and devoted companion!

Ma-Ma Mee-Ah . . . it’s Mia!! Meet Mia, an incredibly loving pittie mix girl who does not know the meaning of the word “stranger.” One glance at the loving look in Mia’s eyes is all it takes for her to start a wigglin’ her rear and a waggin’ her tail because she has so much love to give and wants you to know it. In fact, you can’t help but go over and wrap your arms around her and give her a BIG hug! And since Mia goes daily to the vet clinic where her foster mom works she gets lots of hugs. Mia’s motto is “I aim to please” as what she cherishes most is being close to her human. Mia is especially fond of younger humans as she’s always done extremely well with the children she’s been around. And when you take into account her playfulness, this makes Mia the perfect addition to any family. And Mia’s house and crate trained so she’s all ready to move in. Mia’s also shown herself to be very adaptable-over a short period of time; she’s experienced a number of very different types of living environments including animal shelter, vet clinic, boarding facility, and a home with humans-so it will take her no time to fit right in! Mia has a few tricks up her sleeve- she can sit, shake hands, and will “kennel up” for a cookie-meaning she can “actively” participate in family fun nights!

Mia’s non alpha personality means her pleasant and affectionate nature isn’t reserved for the humans in her world. At her temporary foster home Mia gets along wonderfully with the five other dogs that live there; especially her new BFF Shelby, a pittie girl just like her! Mia’s temporary foster family also includes several cats: a species Mia displays curiosity about, but no aggression: Though she is up for playing the occasional game of chase with them. Of course, getting to meet so many other critters is one reason Mia loves accompanying her temporary foster mother to her job at the vet clinic.

Mia is healthy and has been fully vetted - she has been spayed, is up to date on all vaccinations, including rabies, has been dewormed, is heartworm negative, microchipped and is current on heartworm/flea/tick prevention meds. Mia is not only a social gal, but also is well-socialized and adaptable.

Mia’s adoption donation is $125, which will help defray the costs of her vetting. For more information on Mia or to request an adoption application, please email sarahthewayhome@gmail.com . TWHRA is open to ‘foster to adopt’ arrangements and out of state adoptions within a reasonable distance.
