My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bay Bay is the true definition of a sweet heart! She is constantly by your side and as soon as your lap becomes available she takes no time to begin snuggling. She is excellent with dogs, cats and other pets. She has never had an accident in the house and will never leave you lonely. She is an adult dog approximately 3 - 4 years old and weighs approximately 20 lbs.

Here is what else her foster family had to say:

Bay bay is looking for a special person or family that can be patient with her - allowing her to continue to learn, trust all while gaining confidence and independence. She is a social little girl, happy to meet new friends and always accepting of anyone who is willing to give her snuggles. She does well with males, females and children of all ages but it is recommended that she go to a home with either no children or older children. It is a behaviour that could be worked on but if small children run or play roughly near her she becomes excited by chasing and barking. Bay Bay has not exhibited any aggressive behaviour towards anyone.

Bay Bay is absolutely excellent and accepting of all other furry friends. She has great manners with other dogs and enjoys playing with the one’s that will engage in play with her. She’s been to the dog park and did excellent with all the other dogs that she met there. She is also very respectful of cats and they seem to like her. Usually my cats steer clear of new fosters but they love Bay Bay and like to cuddle and sleep with her. Bay Bay benefits from having another dog in the home. They give her the confidence to be more independent.

Bay Bay’s absolute favourite thing to do is be with her human friends. It doesn’t matter what you’re doing she simply wants to be with you. And she really really loves to cuddle. Bay Bay has a moderate energy level. She is happy to either be relaxing/sleeping or to be playing with other dogs or going for a walk/hike. I would describe her shedding as low.

Bay Bay is relatively quiet in the home, barking briefly when someone comes to the door or when she meets someone new. Bay Bay has very good house manners. She is respectful when you are eating and does not try to steal food. She also has absolutely no interest of chewing things or getting into anything in the house unless she is left on her own. When left on her own she begins to fret and drool whether she is in a crate or not. In her crate she will chew her blanket or anything she can pull in from outside the crate. I am sure this is left over from her being traumatized in the pound and is something that needs to be worked on with her. She is a little better when left with another dog but overall she will need help in building confidence at being on her own.

Bay Bay always comes when you call her and understands ‘no.’ She is also working on ‘sit.’ Bay Bay has never had an accident in the house. She is now very quick at going to the bathroom and understands commands such as ‘hurry up’ or ‘go pee.’ Bay Bay walks exceptionally well on a leash, often walking close to your side. She does not try to escape from the yard or out the door as she is always so focused on where I am and what I am doing. She is nervous riding in the car but we are working on that.

Bay Bay is a wonderful little companion. She is just a lovely, affectionate little doll who bonds very quickly and needs someone that is willing to go slowly with her and help her gain confidence in the world around her. Someone that is home more often than not would be ideal. She will never leave you, wants to be wherever you are, is accepting of whatever you do and will trust you completely. She needs someone that will be her mentor and best friend.

If you think you could give this little girl the family she deserves, please submit an application for consideration.
