My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Ellie Mae! She has a pretty amazing story! She was originally labeled as a MALE when listed in the shelter. She was on her LAST DAY and merely escaped being put to sleep. A volunteer at the shelter put out a cry for help to our rescue and we did everything we could to rescue her. Upon rescue we discovered that not only was he a SHE but she was also PREGNANT! This poor girl was so emaciated that we were not even sure that her puppies were going to make it or be healthy for that matter. When she did finally deliver her puppies only 1 of the 4 actually survived. It was very sad and disheartening but she was a good momma dog regardless. Ellie Mae is believed to be a Lab/Plott Hound mix. She is a very sweet girl! She absolutely loves children and gets along great with other dogs and doesn’t even mind cats. She is not much of a barker or a howler either. Ellie definitely loves her food though, that’s for sure and we can’t blame her especially considering the condition that she came to us in! She is believed to be approximately 1-2 years of age and is a beautiful brindle color. Due to Ellie's hound mannerisms, we prefer to see her in a home with a fenced in yard. Ellie Mae would make a great family dog and is looking forward to finding her furever home!
