Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Just over a year old now, little Wallace has seen his share of misery. Found by animal control laying in an inner city playground and taken to a very high kill shelter, he was unable to put any weight on his left rear leg. We were contacted to see if we had room for him right away and raced the hour to the shelter to get him before they closed for the night. The first stop was to the emergency room at the University of PA Ryan Center where he was found to have a horrible break right above the ball of the knee joint and needed extensive (and expensive) surgery. Through a sister rescue in MD, we obtained the services of a highly skilled orthopedic surgeon who determined that this wasn't a new break - Wallace had been suffering in pain for a period of 5-6 weeks and was likely dumped in that playground by some callous person who didn't want to pay to take him to a vet.
The surgery was in August, and Wallace has recovered well, first with weeks of cage rest and then with sessions of physical therapy. He's now the spunky, active puppy he was meant to be! And ready to be adopted by a loving family! Wallace loves to play! And loves toys! Once he was allowed out of his cage, he immediately found the toy boxes and relishes in taking out dozens at a time! His favorite game is fetch, and will chase and bring back the ball over and over again. He gets along with all the other dogs - and cats - in the house, but is heartbroken that they don't want to play with him since they are all seniors and think he's a pest!
Wallace is being fostered near Mays Landing, NJ, and his asking adoption fee is $400.
