My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

10 year old female with loss of hair. Tested for thyroid problems – negative, tested for mange – negative. Hair loss started and then she was diagnosed with heartworm. She was treated for heartworm but hair continued to fall out. The family could no longer afford the vet care for an undiagnosed problem.

She is in foster and now on grain free diet, anitbiotics, antifungal medicine and will be getting a bath once a week with antifungal shampoo. Her hair is growing like crazy. Something so simple like food can make a difference. Pyrs have a tendency to have CORN allergies. She is feeling better and frisky. She gets to wear a pretty coat while her hair comes back in.

The beauty of a Great Pyrenees can take your breath away, but they are unique dogs which require dedicated owners who have thoroughly researched the traits of the breed. Feel free to visit our website at www.nepyresq.org for information to start your journey! Northeast Pyrenees Rescue only sponsors dogs from the Northeast including New Jersey for placement in homes in our region. If you are interested in meeting this pyrenees, please complete our application at http://www.nepyresq.org/page/adoption-application-36.html Please include any questions in the comments field of the application. Keep in mind that we are a volunteer organization and encourage serious inquiries only. Great Pyrenees are known for their barking as they were bred to be Livestock Guardians. HOWEVER, a dog not raised around farm animals does not automatically become an Livestock Guardian. They are trained from birth to do that job. If you need a working dog you should contact a reputable breeder for a trained dog. Find breeders at Great Pyrenees Club of America www.gpcaonline.org
