My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

¿Qué hora es? Sooie (or Suzie) says it’s time to be adopted by her forever family! This sweet baby girl comes to Midwest BREW from a shelter in Michigan. According to the wonderful shelter she came from, she was an owner surrender by a Hispanic family, so this smart pup is fluent in Spanish. The family surrendered her because she had too much energy and because their youngest had developed an allergy. This baby girl is not all beagle. (Perhaps part gazelle?) At 8 months, she weighs in at about 30 lbs. and she is lean and tall. She has a longer nose and long legs, so she can run! She also has an unusual bark that sounds a bit hoarse, so she would not be a good fit for an apartment.

Suzie gets along well with all the dogs in our house, but she has a few alpha tendencies. She isn’t aggressive, but she has the stare that tells other pups she wants to be the boss. At a recent trip to the dog park, she played with every dog she could find – from toy poodle to full sized German Shepard. She plays gently with her little foster brother Timmy, but has no problems running with the big dogs. She is cuddly and sweet with her humans and loves nothing better than to snuggle in your lap. Since she is a puppy, she needs lots of exercise and is easily distracted. Long walks are her favorite and while she’s interested in rabbits and squirrels, she doesn't have a strong prey drive. She is strong though and will need some obedience classes to help with her manners. For a puppy, she is surprisingly well behaved. She takes things like socks and toilet paper for walks, but she doesn’t chew. She gets super excited when we come home from work and she can jump because of her long legs. She’s investigated the kitchen table a few times, but will get down when you scold her. She has the potential to be a counter surfer too, so she’ll need a home to make sure that food is well away from the edge.

One of my favorite memories of Suzie in the short time we’ve had her is of her being released from her crate at the shelter in Michigan. She tore out of the room because she was so excited to be loose and she lost her balance on the slick floors. She went crashing into a crate of cats and left all the adults speechless and the poor cats scrambling for cover. My poor husband looked at me in horror. It was the face that said we are in major trouble with this one! While our initial energetic meeting left us a bit nervous, she has proven to be a wonderful dog and companion. Exercise and love have helped calm her down and she promises to be wonderful addition to someone’s home
