My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Buttercup is the sweetest dog ever. She has a gentle temperament and is a joy to be around. She is affectionate with us and strangers (in the house and those that we meet in the street). She loves getting her belly rubbed and just chilling out. She is great around our cat - very indifferent but allows the cat to come up and sniff her! She would fit into any home situation. Buttercup is approximately 1.6 - 2 years old and weighs 32 lbs.

Here is what else her foster family had to say:

Buttercup would be a great pet to basically anyone - a first time dog owner, a family with kids (young or old), couple, single person etc. We think Buttercup was someone's pet before because she seems to have the basic training in place. She doesn't make a lot of noise, she stays off the furniture (generally), she doesn't steal or beg for food, or destroy the house etc. Buttercup doesn't require a lot of walking - we take her out for a morning walk, another walk around 6pm, and then a short trip out before bedtime. She walks well on a leash and is always curious about the other dogs and humans who are out and about. We had a party at the house and she was great with random people coming up to her and petting her! She is very friendly with everyone! If circumstances were different for us, we would make her a permanent addition to our family!!! However, I know that she will find her forever home soon because she is truly a great dog.

Buttercup is friendly and social with everyone that we meet - adults, other dogs, and cats! She is very gentle and mellow. She is okay with people randomly petting her - she loves the attention! In terms of children, we haven't seen her interact specifically with children but she's encountered them in the park and seem her normal friendly self around them. She tends to be a "beta" in that she doesn't need to assert any dominance around us or other people. This doesn't mean that she's submissive or tremors a lot! She is just mellow and likes to go with the flow! We brought her for some grooming and the groomers fell in love with her - they said that Buttercup was fantastic to groom because she didn't move and didn't fuss! She is very good in the house with our cat, which I was originally very worried about. In terms of other dogs, Buttercup seems very interested in playing and meeting with other dogs. We have not experienced any problems with her meeting other dogs - and she gets many chances to meet them at the dog park. She loves getting her belly rubbed! She is a sucker if you want to pet and massage her - she will become putty in your hands!

Buttercup was definitely someone's pet before coming to our house. She is well trained in the basis obedience - she doesn't try to steal food or beg, she doesn't counter surf, or chew anything she shouldn't. We keep her uncrated all day and night and haven't had any problems! She does like to sleep on the couch every once in a while - but will get off quickly when we tell her "NO". She usually sleeps in her dog bed so I think the couch sleeping was just because the dog bed was in the wash. Buttercup is fully trained - we haven't had any accidents in the house at all. She is a very quiet dog, we have never heard her bark. She is leash trained - she walks well.

I think Buttercup would do very well in any environment - she is a very sweet natured dog. I don't think her forever home needs to have a backyard since she doesn't need a lot of walking/visits outside. She doesn't make too much noise - so a house is not necessary. She would be good with other dogs - but perhaps not with a strong alpha dog. Buttercup is very mellow and not sure she would do well in a situation with rowdy dogs. Buttercup had to get used to walking up and down stairs in our house - perhaps her original home was a ranch style? In any event, she just needs to be shown that she is allowed to go up and downstairs and she will be fine.

If you think Buttercup would be a good choice for your family, please submit an application for consideration.
