  • Color: Black
  • Age: Young
  • Size: Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
  • Sex: Female
Tootsie – black lab mix. Tootsie is about 1 year old. She is a black lab mix pulled from a high kill shelter. Tootsie had demodectic mange when she was pulled. After a few months of treatment, she is testing negative. She will continue her meds until she has one more negative test but so far, she is testing clear and looking awesome! Tootsie has loads and loads of energy. She can focus on something but not for long. She has been working on sit and will do it for a treat but praise fast, because soon she’ll be up and gone. Tootsie loves, loves, loves to play Frisbee. Although she can’t catch it (yet), she will pick it up and bring it back to you. She can also be seen carrying long sticks and prancing around the yard. Tootsie is too high energy for some small dogs. She only desires to play but her size and energy-level can be overwhelming. She also may be too high energy for small children as she could knock them down easily. Tootsie could benefit from some obedience classes. She is smart and eager to please. She likes to give hugs. Tootsie is a spayed female. She is up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, and ready to be adopted. No cats please. Tootsie is neutered and up to date on her shots. If you are interested in Tootsie, please email her at tootsie@sparkyrescue.com or call 270-684-4787.

About Saving Paws Animal Rescue of KY

About Our Rescue Group...

SparKy is a local, non rofit, no-kill, animal rescue. It takes a unique approach to animal rescue through the utilization of "foster homes" to house the animals. These foster homes provide the animals with a loving environment in which their needs are fully met. They also allow the foster parents to assess the temperament of the animals, as well as their individual needs, thus ensuring that the best permanent home possible is found.
Sparky is a true "No-Kill" rescue! Members of SparKy strongly believe in saving lives, and they will go to great lengths to protect animals. No-Kill rescues will ONLY euthanize an animal if it is recommended by a veterinarian due to illness beyond providing the animal a good quality of life, or due to a severe behavioral issue, such as extreme aggressiveness, that places humans and other animals at risk. SparKy will do everything in its power to save the life of an animal!
Members of SparKy have made it a mission, to join in with rescue groups and shelters across America, by focusing on our local community to reduce the number of animals killed each year. SparKy's goals are to educate the public about the importance of spaying and neutering pets, to educate the public about responsible pet ownership, and to rescue and re-home homeless adoptable pets.

Our Adoption Process...

All animals cared for by SparKy receive a thorough vet exam, vaccinations, heartworm testing and treatment if needed for dogs, FIV/FeLeuk testing for cats, parasite control, as well as treatment for any illness that they might have. They will also be spayed or neutered, prior to going to their new home. Anyone adopting a pet from SparKy will be required to sign an adoption contract, as well as pay an adoption fee. The adoption fees are as follows:
• Kitten (up to 1 year old) $75.00
• Adult Cat (1 year & up) $50.00
• Puppy (up to 1 year old) $150.00
• Adult Dog (1 year & up) $125.00
