My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sugar is just as sweet as her name. This poor 11 yr old, 13 lb girl has had a rough year. First her elderly owner died. Then her owner’s girlfriend moved out and abandoned Sugar in the empty house. It took a few weeks but eventually the owner’s relatives stopped by and discovered her. It wasn’t exactly a happy ending as they promptly dumped Sugar at the high kill Stanislaus shelter. It was an all too familiar story. Everyone in the family wanted the money that had been left but no one wanted the dog.

When we got Sugar she was in terrible emotional shape. Being alone for weeks and then going to the shelter environment had done a number on her. Thankfully, she soon blossomed in her caring foster home.

This “mostly” doxie is great at her housebreaking. She walks well on a leash and really enjoys her outings. Sugar would be fine in an apt or condo as she is a quiet dog and rarely barks.
Sugar is superb with other dogs. To prove it she is happily fostered with another doxie, a German Short Hair and a Golden Retriever.

Sugar will snuggle on her dog bed but she really would prefer to sleep with her people.

Sugar’s foster mom describes her as the perfect dog who deserves a forever home of her own
.
Sugar is spayed, micro chipped and current on her vaccinations. Sugar has also had a complete dental. If you are interested in Sugar, please fill out the online adoption application and email Lindy at linla@comcast.net.

The tax deductible donation for Sugar is a modest donation to rescue.
