My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! My name is Honey and I’m a 1 – 1.5 years old female, believe to be a Vizsla mix, about 40 pound. TWHRA rescued me from a high intake/high kill shelter in Eastern rural KY where I was at risk of being euthanized due to overcrowding. I’m so HAPPY they did and my foster mom says she’s glad to have been able to save me!

I’m a really awesome girl and I know I would make a great companion to anyone! I have a nice disposition and it doesn’t take much to keep me happy. I’m just as content playing fetch with you in the yard as I am snuggling with you on the couch. I came into my foster home already housebroken and though I don’t care for my crate, I am crate trained! I like a variety of toys, from ropes to nylabones. I am generally a quiet girl, but I will alert you when someone is at the door or if I see another dog or cat outside. Did I mention I like to snuggle? I just LOVE LOVE LOVE to curl up on the couch or the bed with my human. Wherever you are is where I want to be!

I am currently in foster care with three other dogs and I immensely enjoy their company and companionship. For that reason, I would like to go to a home that has another dog to be my friend. I have not been around cats. I do love people and do well with children. I have gorgeous green eyes with a reddish hair coat that has white flecks distributed throughout. I have white in my chest and on my paws, and the texture of my hair coat is similar to that of a lab; I don’t shed much at all either. I am a gem and am anxious to find a family to call my own!

I have been fully vetted – Up to date on vaccinations, heartworm tested negative, current on heartworm and flea/tick preventative, spayed and microchipped. My adoption donation is $125 which will help defray the cost of my vetting. I am currently located in Lexington, KY, but TWHRA does out of state adoptions and can make transport arrangements, so if you don’t live nearby, don’t let that deter you! If you would like to learn more about me, or for an adoption application, please email my foster mom at sarahthewayhome@gmail.com . Thanks so much!
