BIJOU has had more than her share of bad experiences. She was obviously tied to a tree for an extended period of time and she was bred at least once. When she was found, she had been nursing but no puppies were found. Bijou was overlooked at the shelter because of her fearfulness, but we just adored her and knew she would benefit from the right surroundings and nurturing.
Bijou is approximately 18 months of age and weighs 30 pounds. She has come SO far, but she will need a very committed family to work with her on her trust issues and socialization. I have no doubt at this point that she will become "normal" considering how far she has come.
Bijou should have another dog - a self confident and playful dog in her household. ;She now has a female American Bulldog (Birdie) as her best friend and loves playing chase with her. Bijou looks to Birdie s her barometer for what is to be trusted.
Bijou is absolutely joyous when she runs and plays with toys -- it is likely the first time she's had those privileges. With just a little help, Bijou will make the best friend you ever had.
