My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

George really needs his forever home. He has been waiting way too long (almost a year!) in rescue for no fault of his own.

He bonds very quickly to new people, and is a dog that leans into whoever is petting him. He has been exposed to dogs of all sizes, and came from a family with children who he was very gentle and sweet with. His previous family loved him very much, but circumstances outside of their control prompted his surrender. When we took him into Songdog, we couldn't imagine it would be hard to adopt him! He loves everyone, is well trained, and is that quintessentially amazing family dog. However, he gets looked over at all the adoption events, his All-American mutt, tricolor look not quite as 'striking' as the huskies he's competing with.

When he sees cats or other dogs on leash, he can be reactive, but is easy to redirect with a treat on the nose or a firm 'No.' Inside a house or a yard, he can be taught to ignore cats and gets along well with other dogs. He goes into his crate well, but isn't fond of being left alone. With that said, he will vocalize a little (whimpering and grumbling) before settling down. If you live in a house, he won't keep the neighbors up, but an apartment home may not be appropriate because of his mild separation anxiety. He is NOT destructive like some dogs when left alone, simply talkative.

He is house-trained, up to date on vaccines, and neutered.
