Here's what the humans have to say about me:
We would like to explain that if you are looking for a perfect dog, they are rarely found in rescue. Our dogs often have unknown histories and we do our very best to evaluate each dog with kids, cats, and other dogs as well as determine how they behave in a home. It is important to understand that we have some specific criteria for each dog based on their backgrounds and input from their foster families. The purpose of these criteria is to better match each dog with an appropriate family. While a certain dog might appeal to you based on breed, size, gender or appearance, you may not match the listed criteria. Please understand that we are not trying to make adoption difficult—we are trying to make each adoption successful for the dog and the new family.

If you have children, we suggest that prior to applying for a dog, you view the website http://www.livingwithkidsanddogs.com. The information is excellent and can help you determine which dog would be right for your family.
Mitzy sounds and seems to be a shepherd mixed possibly with red heeler and she would dearly love her own home. She is almost one year old, weighs a healthy 48 pounds, and her long legs would make her a wonderful running partner and her big, deep bark would scare any bad people from your door. (She does not bark unnecessarily.) She definitely loves cuddling on the sofa to help you watch TV or read a book. Mitzi really loves having a canine playmate her size or larger and they run and run in the large fenced yard until they tire and come in and fall asleep. Mitzi would enjoy kids who are 10 and up and would be a great dog for a household of boys who like to roughhouse. It would be a great benefit if her new family has a playful dog her size or larger. (She has been playing with a 90 pound lab and a 60 pound lab mix. A home with a large fenced yard would be good for playtime. She knows how to sit and is very good at returning when called. Foster mom is working on "stay" and "down" and she is learning quickly. Mitzi is house trained and crate trained, and should probably not live with cats because they are too much fun to chase. Mitzi is with a 501c3 rescue and is looking for a home with someone home part of the time, fenced in yard, and another playful dog. Mitzi's adoption fee is $150 and includes her spay, heartworm pills, worming, immunizations and she has a HomeAgain microchip.
To ensure that this dog thrives in his new home and that the adoption works out for the dog and your family, these are the requirements for adoption. These criteria are not negotiable. If you do not meet these criteria, please choose another dog that will work out better for your family.
