My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Russell is the easiest dog to take care of that I have ever met. He is very loving, cuddly, calm and well mannered. He does not fit the typical high energy persona of a Jack Russell. He loves to sleep and I’ve only heard him bark two times. He is just a sweet little companion. Russell is approximately 5 - 7 years old and weighs 16 lbs.

Here is what else the foster family had to say:

Russell is a very loyal and loving little guy. He is not shy with anyone and will go up to strangers. Every time a visitor enters the house Russell goes to greet them. He seems to particularly like men for some reason too. I have never seen Russell interact with children but from his actions around adults he would probably be ok around them but I think that he should live with a family that has older children or no children because he sometimes dislikes being picked up by strangers or suddenly. He can have a bit of an attitude with strangers if they try to move him from his spot for example but with his own people he is submissive and very obedient.

I’m not sure how Russell would act around cats because I have never seen him interact with cats but he is very calm so it could potentially work. He is great with dogs and usually wants to meet dogs on his walks. I have never seen him live with a dog because I don’t own any but he seems very friendly while meeting some on our walks.

Russell absolutely loves going outside. Every time I pass the door he wags his tail and wants to go outside for a walk. He also loves to sleep a good amount during the day and usually does it on someone’s lap or beside someone. He is a very loving dog. I would describe his energy level as very low, especially for a Jack Russell. He does get excited for certain things (walks, being fed, people entering the house) or in the morning when he sees me again after a good night sleep but other than that he’s very mellow. His shedding is pretty low I would say. When we first got him from the transport he was shedding a good amount but I’ve heard that shedding could be due to stress. Here at home his shedding is not bad at all.

He does not seem to have any separation anxiety when I leave the house. I’ve never heard him bark and we have not had any problems with him ruining anything in the house. Some loud cars have gotten his attention and he sometimes barks at passing bikes (the only times I’ve ever heard him bark).

Russell is very quiet. Everything he does is very quiet he never seems to make any noise haha. Russell seems very healthy! Russell sometimes begs for food but without making a sound. He sits at our feet when we eat and wags his tail but once he notices he won’t get any food he usually walks away and does his own thing. He has never tried to steal any food from anyone and if I find something in his mouth that should be there and I say “drop itttt” he drops it right away. I’ve never caught him chewing on anything in the house either.

Russell has never had an accident in the house. He is fully house trained. He knows his basic commands such as drop it, sit, stay, come. He is very well mannered in the home. Russell is leash trained I’d say. He wanders a bit and sniffs things but he isn’t too strong so it’s not hard to walk him. I currently have a crate for Russell but I only use it when I leave him alone in the house. When he has been left uncrated he never gets into anything so I would assume that he doesn't need to be crated. He doesn’t seem to mind being in his crate, he doesn’t whine and often goes in the crate by himself if I open it up and ask him to go inside. At night he sleeps in his bed beside my bed and doesn’t make any noise or get out of bed all night.

Russell is great in the car! I’ve brought him in there a few times now and I usually just bring his bed and he sleep the entire way. I’ve had him get up on the side of the window to look outside but I usually say Russell down, and he sits back down in his bed.

I think Russell would be great in a family with no children or older children just because of how moderate his energy level is. He loves to sleep and probably would do very well with young children. He has such a great personality he will make a family very happy.

If you think Russell would be a good choice for your family, please submit an application for consideration.
