My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

THIS IS A COURTESY LISTING. ADR is not responsible for the health, temperament, behavior or placement of this cat. Listings are done at the request of the cat's owner and as an outreach and community service in hopes of finding these cats a loving, stable forever home. Placement decisions are made solely at the discretion of the owner and not Austin Dog Rescue. Owners are required to ask for an adoption fee from adopters.

This is the information we received from the good samaritan who rescued Tuffy:

Hi, my name is Tuffy. I am around 8 months old, and this is my story.

One night about 2 months ago to protect myself from a cold night, I elected to sleep under the hood of a warm auto. The next morning, I lost my footing and fell from the engine compartment of the now travelling auto onto the very hard pavement of Toll Road 45, near Buda. They tell me that the speed limit is 80 MPH, and from my vantage point, it was just a blur. I was scared to death, well, almost to death.

In fact, it is a miracle I survived, but thankfully, the luck of the draw provided me a motorist who loves little kitties, and she stopped to pick me up in the middle of streaming traffic. I met my first veterinarian soon thereafter, and she patched me up pretty good for the recovery period ahead. I was scraped, bruised, had bad cuts in several places and generally a mess. Stitches were required to close the more serious wounds. X-ray and blood tests, including FeLV and FIV, were all favorable in determining I would be a very healthy cat someday although, due to recent surgery, I will never be a mommy. But that’s alright because I am just happy to be alive and well.

I am very lucky to have lived thru this terrible experience, and am excited to know that my foster family are looking for a loving forever home for me. I love attention, playing with my toys, and all living creatures – humans, dogs, cats, horses – you name it, I love it. If you are looking for a very playful little kitty to entertain you and love you forever, please consider taking me home. I adapt well and will give back years of loving companionship.

Well, that’s my story.
