My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Princess has a very sweet disposition and is very trusting of others. She quickly warms up to new people. Princess loves to receive a tummy rub and will roll onto her back without hesitation when she wants one. She will also smile when she is enjoying the massage. She will follow around her owners like a shadow and loves being in the company of others. Princess is approximately 5 years old and weighs 35 lbs. She is still needing to shed a few of those pounds.

Here is what else her foster family had to say:

Princess is very social and trusting of her family. We have a dog of our own and she is very friendly and gentle around him. While on walks, she will pull with excitement at the sight of other people and dogs.

She loves to go for walks and loves to chase toys – and will bring them back! She loves to have her belly rubbed and to be near her family members. Her energy level is usually between low to moderate. She is very quiet and will only bark if our dog barks first or if she sees/hears activity outside. She will also sometimes whine when left alone. She will stop barking upon request. Her energy level is usually between low to moderate.

Princess demonstrates very good house manners with the exception of mooching. She will follow you when preparing food and will sit by the table expecting food while we are eating our dinner. She knows how to sit on command, and will sometimes lie down on command. She will respond and come running when her name is called. Princess is fully house trained and has not made one accident since her arrival. She is fully crate trained. Yes we are currently using a crate for bedtime. She is only left in the crate for approximately 7 hours (during the night). At first she strongly disliked the crate but after a couple days of training and convincing her, it is a happy place, she now enjoys being in her crate and will often willingly lie in it throughout the day. She is nearly leash trained. She still pulls and gets very distracted while walking. We started using a harness on her and have found that she pulls a lot less while we are using it.

She has run out the front door a couple of times, but will return promptly when called. She is very enthusiastic in the car and enjoys the ride, she has no trouble getting in or out. As an update, Princess made her way downstairs and back upstairs on her own today! She was SO proud of herself!! She is a very loving and affectionate, sweet girl and we are so enjoying her company!

We believe that Princess would suit a low-key lifestyle. She hasn’t had much exposure to young children, but we feel that very young children or ones who are unable to understand her boundaries would not be a suitable match for Princess. She does have some trust issues (flattens to the ground when we try to pick her up - will react if cornered) which appear to stem from her past and may be best suited to an adult only home with people that have some experience with dogs.

If you think Princess would fit into your family, please submit an application for consideration.
