My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sheldon is one smart cookie! He came to us as a stray, very emaciated and matted but full of love. Because of the matting, he had to be partially shaved. He knows basic commands and tends to be lower key than your typical bouncy border collie though he exhibits their above average intelligence! Currently Sheldon is 30 pounds but is working to put on the weight he needs to fill out his frame. Sheldon is good with dogs and kids and our best guess that he would be good with cats based on his temperament. Sheldon will be arriving in CT on Dec. 7th to attend our Petals and Paws event. For more information on how to adopt Sheldon, please email Lindsay at doubledogblue@gmail.com.

Unless otherwise indicated, all Double Dog Rescue dogs have received the following before being available for adoption:

thorough veterinary examination all routine annual vaccinations, including Rabies, DHLPP, Bordatella (kennel cough), Heartworm Test, Fecal Test, Deworming. spay/neuter surgery

All dogs are quarantined for two weeks outside of the shelter (puppies four weeks) to ensure they don't break with disease.

If any dog shows any signs of disease or ailment, DDR vets the dog until he or she has a clean bill of health to the best of our knowledge.(This may include anything from being treated for Heartworm, broken bones, Cherry Eye, ACL injuries, upper respiratory, etc.)

NOTE: Dogs who tested positive and treated for Heartworm, can test positive up to 4-6 months after last treatment. All dogs are immediately put on Heartguard/Ivermectin following the treatment to kill the Heartworm larvae. All dogs should be retested after 4 months from the last Heartworm test.
