My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

"Max" is a handsome 1½-yo neutered male GSD who is playful and affectionate. Max is very friendly with people and previously lived in an active student home with people coming and going all the time. Max is great with the other dogs at GSRSV's facility, but does hold his ground if approached aggressively. I have not seen Max around cats, so I will only consider a home with without cats for him. Max is already good size and still has some growing to do. He likely weighs about 80 lbs.

Max still acts like a puppy at times, but is quick and eager to learn. He walks well on leash and is getting better all the time. Overall, Max is pretty well-behaved for a dog who appears to have received little previous training. He loves to play w/ his toys or a ball, but is also content to just snuggle up next to his person. Max tends to be mouthy when he's excited, but has made great improvement in this area since he was rescued on Nov 13 .

Max has shown no signs of aggression since his rescue, and even allows food to be taken away from him without protest. (Ironically, it was perceived food aggression that made the Sac County Shelter "fail" Max for adoption.) However, given his size and lack of training, I recommend that Max's adopter(s) be experienced with GSDs and know how to be the alpha figure.

Max was rescued from the Sac County Shelter on Nov. 13. His adoption fee is $250.
