My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

10 MARCH 2014: Jet has been with us now since New Year’s Day. He is a very sweet boy who lives for belly rubs and human snuggles. Jet loves to give kisses, is a good kitchen “helper”, and loves to greet anyone who comes in the door! He does not know a human stranger, and everyone he meets is his friend immediately. We do not have kids, but he did very well meeting a few families with children at the adoption event.
He is house and crate trained and has pretty good house manners (minimal begging, no chewing, etc.). His one downside is that he does have some jealousy issues with other dogs. He generally gets along okay with our two beagles, but we do think he’d be best as an only dog. All things considered, Jet is a fantastically well adjusted dog. Some family will be very lucky to win his love forever! We promise you will never be better loved.

Note from foster home: While Jet LOVES the company of humans, he prefers to have them to himself and would be best adopted into a home with no other dogs.
News from a great temporary foster! We adopted a BREW Beagle a year ago and he has been a fantastic addition to our family. To try to give back a little for the great work that BREW does, we offered to take one of the Beagles at the vet for a day on the weekend.
I have three children, ages 8, 7 and 5 and they rose at 5:30am they were so excited to go get Jet for the day. (Note to self, don’t tell the kids before breakfast next time!)
We picked him up at the Veterinary Clinic at about 10:30am. He came out and howled a greeting to us. I thought he might keep on barking but he stopped as soon as we went outside. He pulled me towards a tree and tinkled. Then he looked at me as if to say “What’s up? Where are we going?”
I sent the kids into the car and he hopped up with no assistance. On the way home he sat up in the front seat and just looked out. He was happy to be in the car and no trouble at all.
We got him home and he met my beagle Yahoo. They sniffed each other and then largely ignored each other. Jet went to the door and I interpreted that as wanting to go out. He went outside and relieved himself, then came back in. He clearly knew how to go outside. He also knows how to sit, as when I told my dog to sit for a treat, Jet sat down immediately. This dog was clearly someone’s dog at one point.
For the rest of the day he was happy to nap and be pet by my kids. When he’s sleeping and you call his name to get up, he rolls over with all fours in the air for belly scratches.
Very gentle boy. He was able to tolerate the mild rough behavior of my children with no problems.
If I had more room, I’d have kept him. This dog will be at home in almost any situation. Very calm and cuddly.

Jet came to us from the shelter in Dublin, VA. He was surrendered to the shelter in early November and thankfully BREW got him out in time. Jet is thought to be 1 – 2 years old and is friendly with both dogs and humans. In the case of humans he greets them with a wagging tail and a big, wet tongue in the face. Jet is at our favorite vet clinic now getting some work done, but will be ready for adoption in by 11/25. Wouldn’t you like to make your home his furever home? Special thanks to Nicole Abramson who brought Jet to us from Dublin!
