My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Neazy is a 10-12 month old Pekingese with a bit more snout than standard. Poor little Neazy hasn't had much happiness in his young life. He was confiscated as an abuse case when his owner was carted off to jail on unrelated charges. Neazy had been starved down to just a skeletal 4 lbs. It was also obvious that he had been beaten with a belt or a strap as he was terrified when he was first approached with a leash. He was rescued from being gassed at a high kill shelter in the south just in the nick of time. Neazy was found to be very friendly and loving even with all he had been through, was nursed back to health by his original benefactors, and then turned over to our rescue to find him a new home. He loves attention and will sit with you for hours. He is also a "talker." When you speak to him, he speaks back - sounds a lot like Scooby Doo! Neazy gets along fine with other friendly dogs (though does tend to guard his bowl at feeding time) and pays no mind to cats. His biggest bug-a-boo is that he doesn't like his nails cut and will fight like mad to get away. It would be best to muzzle him when nail cutting is necessary. He is also unsure when it comes to new experiences and shows some nervous skittish behaviors - but once he learns that these experiences won't harm him he settles down and adapts. Neazy is very young which will help him to overcome and forget his previous life when he becomes comfortable with being treated with nothing but kindness. He is being fostered in Richmond, VA and his asking adoption fee is $300.
