Ziva's Story...
Ziva is a unique mix of Pharaoh hound and basenji. The Pharaoh hound is one of the oldest domesticated dog breeds in the world, and is often shown in Egyptian hieroglyphics. A basenji is distinctive in that it doesn’t bark (but Ziva did not inherit that trait, however). Both breeds are known to be energetic and Ziva is no exception – she loves her daily walks. She is well behaved, and at 40 pounds, she is considered a manageable, medium size. Ziva is a beautiful shade of caramel with white markings, and has very short, low-maintenance coat. DOB 1-6-08.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Ziva, a Geneseo Pharaoh Hound/Basenji dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Pharaoh Hound/Basenji for sale in Geneseo, or seeking a Pharaoh Hound/Basenji dog from a breeder in Geneseo.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Geneseo already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Geneseo breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Pharaoh Hound/Basenji breeders who help with Pharaoh Hound/Basenji rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Geneseo paves the way for another one to be saved.
